The City of Sydney is creating a City Farm on a half hectare site in Sydney Park at St Peters. Detailed design of the Farm is almost complete and they will be starting to create from early 2016.
At the activity day, get hands on in the morning – you’ll be preparing raised garden bed materials, enriching soil in the orchard area and propagating perennial edibles for planting at the farm when they are big enough.
Share your ideas in the afternoon – the City of Sydney will be running an indoor workshop to explore growing techniques for small market gardens, and discuss crop ideas for the farm.
This free activity is suitable for adults and includes a light lunch. There are limited places and bookings are essential.
Sydney City Farm will be a place for food production, education, innovation, volunteering and collaboration. It will also include Farmers’ Market and compost facilities. The Farm is being set up as a social enterprise with management of the farm modelled to transition over time from the City of Sydney to the community.
